As the Regional Councillor from West Asia, I already fulfil the qualifications to be a RC. I have the right academic qualifications with a PhD in Life Sciences, and I have been a meritorious student, winning several fellowships during my academic career. I have more than 20 years of government work experience, of which over 8 years in a senior government position. Being a young woman in a leadership position within a government institution, I meet the requirements for the Councillors election. In my administrative role within the Environment Agency-Abu Dhabi, I won the Abu Dhabi Award for Excellence in Government Performance in 2016, among more than 50 other government administrators. I also serve other sectors in my capacity as member of the board of key institutions such as ADSSC and ADFSA. During my first term as a Regional Councillor, I attended regular Council meetings, assisted the Council Search Committees for the West Asia Regional Director and Director General. I am also part of the Governance Committee and External Governance Review Taskforce. I attended the last two ROWA Regional Conservation Forums, and organized in 2018 the first Biodiversity Conservation Forum in Abu Dhabi. I also established the IUCN UAE National Committee, following my election in 2016. Since the establishment of the NC, I conducted regular meetings to ensure adoption of the IUCN One Program locally. I oversaw the organization of the SSC Leaders Meeting in Abu Dhabi, attended by 350 experts, leading to call for species conservation.
