Ms Valerie HICKEY

Practice Manager. Environment, Natural Resources and Blue Economy for Latin America and the Caribbean

Valerie is the Practice Manager for Environment, Natural Resources and Blue Economy in Latin America and the Caribbean at the World Bank. In LAC, Valerie manages a cross-sectoral team that provides technical assistance, convening services, and capital at scale to governments, communities and companies on issues related to integrated coastal zone management, fisheries, forests and biodiversity, pollution management and environmental health, environmental economics and environmental risk management.

Almost twenty years ago, Valerie joined the World Bank as a technical specialist in East Asia and the Pacific, working on environment and rural development projects in Cambodia, China and Lao. Valerie has since worked across the Bank’s regions providing design and implementation support to a variety of operations, including in fragile states. Valerie holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Science and Policy from Duke University.
