Mr Jean-Louis ETIENNE

Polar Explorer, Océan Polaire

Dr Jean-Louis Etienne. MD. Member of the French Academy of Technology. Former General Director of the Oceanographic Institute of Paris and Monaco.

A tireless advocate of environmental conservation, Dr Jean-Louis ETIENNE organized many scientific and educational expeditions in Arctic and Antarctic regions to heighten public opinion's awareness of their role on Earth's climate and life cycle.

He is currently working on the POLAR POD project, a two year expedition on board a platform driven by the Circumpolar Current around Antarctica. The Southern Ocean is the major carbon sink forthe planet and an immense reservoir of biodiversity.
