Government of the United States of America

The United States is a global leader in actions to conserve nature and promote sustainable management of natural resources.
As a member of IUCN, the United States is a strong supporter of the organization and its mission. The U.S. Department of State’s Office of Conservation and Water is the United States' state member in IUCN and is the primary sponsor. Six U.S. government agencies hold IUCN agency membership: the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the U.S. Forest Service, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and the Department of the Interior's U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the U.S. National Park Service, and the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management. Additionally, many U.S. government scientists are engaged in the work of the IUCN commissions and advancing conservation priorities in the United States and around the world.
