Wangu MUTUA

Deputy Regional Director, Vi Agroforestry

Wangu Mutua is a Kenyan working in the East African region. Her career started over 17 years ago where she closely worked with local communities promoting agroforestry.  She spent over 10 years working with farmers in Western Kenya, managing projects that involved direct engagement with rural communities. This gave her more energy and drive to further pursue issues surrounding better organisation of local communities for their livelihood improvement through agroforestry. This has seen her continually work with farmer organisations that vary in size such as local community organisations, national and regional farmer organisations. The organisations have proven to be a stable entry to and engagement with communities. Most recently, engagement with private actors as partners in driving positive change among rural communities has been an interesting space she is exploring.
