The session will present on the results of the projects implemented under the IUCN Pacific Energy, Ecosystems and Sustainable Livelihoods Initiative (EESLI): "Managing the Ecosystem Implications of Energy Policies in the Pacific Island States" undertaken in Palau, Federated States of Micronesia, Marshall Islands, Kiribati, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Fiji, Tuvalu, Tonga and Samoa. The projects were funded by the Governments of Italy, Austria, Spain and Luxembourg through the Joint Committee of Pacific Islands Permanent Missions to the UN in New York. We will present on the positive outcomes and discuss some of the negative impacts we faced during project implementation. Lessons learnt and future issues will form the basis of discussion after the presentation. A rapporteur will provide a report on the session.
